The table shows different leh. Don’t cut & paste lah.
February 12th, 2009 at 10:48 am
Hats off to SPC and CALTEX. U guys are getting my money by setting a fine example. Hope others follow suite!
February 12th, 2009 at 10:55 am
1st we boycott SHELL, then ExxonMobil, later when the other 2 follow suit we boycott all or go back to support SHELL?
What’s the plan?
February 12th, 2009 at 11:06 am
not much changes leh
February 12th, 2009 at 11:08 am
Just boycott Shell as they are the first to raise price. I will continue to pump Exxonmobil Synergy 5000.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Considering all above Petrol Companies, think Caltex & SPC are the smarter ones.
Coz they will earn more end of the day, by not increasing their pump price.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Hoping someone can organise a protest at Hong Lim park..get media attentation and govt sure step in….
February 12th, 2009 at 11:50 am
Just boycott the first idiot that started it - SHELL.
If someone reduces the price, we will support them. Lets start a price war amongst the companies.
for now….BOYCOTT SHELL
February 12th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Pump in JB, and boycott them. Shell is trying their luck to increase price on the consumer expense….U have just lost my business.
February 12th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
wow if someone were to punp shell the chances of winning UOB Cards Promotion: Win $100 Every Hour, $1,000 Every Day! will be very high…
February 12th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Oil at 36 a barrel. why no drop?
February 12th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Diesel price dropped because there is alternative for taxis - - go ComfortDelgro selling to its members. Do you noticed we seldom see taxis at petrol kriosks. So no choice but to drop.
For motorists, we where to go except JB. SHELL is simply exploiting the system. Continue to boycott SHELL. And hope that ComfortDelgro sells petrol as well and open to public.
February 12th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Luckily I’m still holding onto my OCBC and HSBC credit cards.
Caltex… Here I come, don increase price like SHELL & ESSO!!!
February 12th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
sick…raw material dropping, yet they increase price?!
not justified….
don’t see they drop price as fast as they increase them…
February 12th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
boycotting shell will help but not change anything, these guys work in tandem at our expense. imagine their cheek to raise prices when oil is < 40$ for over a week now. when it goes up a bit they are quick to increase almost the very next day. we are stuck between the devils and the deep sea
February 12th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Hello ak_55,
What do you mean will help but not change anything. Help mean something is changing.and improving.
We are stuck becos we are not cohesive in our efforts.
Some idiots still get hooked by the promotion gimmicks.
So deserve to be bitten by the Shark , devil and the deep sea.
February 12th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
exactly lolo. problem is even if we are cohesive in our efforts and try as hard as we may, options are limited and the oil co’s are not really bothered. they work as a cartel and we all have to go to some pump sooner or later. exxon had the largest ever profit of any co on earth last year…and for 4 years in a row now. not sure how many people boycott shell (i have never pumped at shell ever) and we always talk about this but they still remain the first to increase the prices everytime! and the rest follow shortly!! do you think boycotting shell gives you some advantage or extra value at any other pump - i dont. except for some moral satisfaction. some higher agency has to look into the issue of pump prices and manipulation if any. till then we keep boycotting shell and increase profits for esso / caltex etc…it is the devils or the deep sea. cheers!
February 12th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
Even Asshole also increase the pump price. Left with Caltex and SPC which drop the price of Diesel but never increase the price of 98 yet.
February 12th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
as of 7pm, caltex too has relented and joined in the fray. Guess good things cant last.
February 12th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
So now boycott Caltex also? Left SPC?
February 12th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I always said it is a cartel. These oil companies must be hauled to Court for monopolistic practices. Why are the price of all grade exaxtly the same. Lousy Govt losing big time and letting companies empty consumers pockets. Very very discouraging to be a proud Singaporean.
At the rate it goes how to stimulate the economy. I learn to be smart drive less and spend less.
February 12th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
World oil price has fallen again to US35.65 at 8.20pm Singapore time. Yet, we have pump price increase. What the hell is going on.
February 12th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
boycott Shell. word of mouth. starts with us.
but now JB getting dangerous siah…. o.O
February 12th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Why others have to follow Shell ? No own brain ?
February 12th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
CARTEL at work… dont have too high expectation on SPC..
Anyway Shell has been Blacklisted.
February 12th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
Just come back from JB, pump at only RM1.90(S$0.79) for 95. Shiok!…!!!! Let’s Boycott Shell from now, don’t get fool by the $3 coupon they gave.
February 12th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
I have a feeling that the cartel is simply taunting us, seems like the more we complain, the more they are showing the middle finger at us.
February 12th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
Crude drop further 1.20 at 10.30pm Now US34
February 12th, 2009 at 11:25 pm
While shell lead the increase, all of us go pump at the other lower pump price and feeling shiok. One day, shell pump price drop lower, give more rebate or some cheap stake lucky den we go pump shell. They are still making the money just that in different months.
The amount of petrol we car owner use is still the same and the money spend on petrol also the same. Just that it goes to diff brand. If really wanna see pump price drop, we should boycott shell even their pump price is lower so they cannot earn back what they suppose to earn. Probably next time they wun take the lead. If no indian chief liao then pump price wun up so fast.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
Exploitations. The main culprit is none other than SHELL. No fair play in Singapore. Motorists should act in concer to boycott SHELL. My question is do we have sufficient number to make an impact. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT..
Simply no logic - - oil price at its low of US$34, a substantial drop and yet we are paying an increase. No more law and order. In Singapore, are we advocating do what we want as long as the Authority is silent. What kind of society will it become? How do we educate our young - - to rob as long as Police turns on a blind eye.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
Read on the papers, Govt encourage Sporeans to help soften the impact by Spending during this recession.
Yes, i will listen to our govt.
I would earn my money in SG but spend them in Malaysia. It makes more economic sense to me.
Sorry not i dont want to help SG, but since our govt also dont even bother, than y should i help. =)
February 12th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
Then the govt should start spendig 1st, but hopefully not on golden tap. Haha.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:43 pm

February 12th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
An oligopoly is a market form in which a market or industry is dominated by a small number of sellers (oligopolists). The word is derived from the Greek for few (entities with the right to) sell. Because there are few participants in this type of market, each oligopolist is aware of the actions of the others. The decisions of one firm influence, and are influenced by, the decisions of other firms. Strategic planning by oligopolists always involves taking into account the likely responses of the other market participants. This causes oligopolistic markets and industries to be at the highest risk for collusion.
This action is all too familiar rite guys !!!!!
February 12th, 2009 at 11:50 pm
Its ironic to see CASE always poke on those small small provision shops, chicken rice stalls, sim lim shops who tries to cheat abit here there. CASE will Ter kan them chia lat chia lat.
But when dealing with Big Guns like Shell, CASE became a Tortoise.
A Message to CASE: Put a GONE in front of your CASE suits you guys better. GONE CASE.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
spideric21, i support u.. if Moderator organize a protest at Hong Lim Park, i will sure join.
Btw, what is the number to call for ‘ Qian Xian Zhui Zong’?
February 12th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Caltex have also up their Gold (98) S$1.740 and Platinum(98) S$1.916 as of 7pm.

February 13th, 2009 at 5:00 am
Oil is 33.98/barrel now *o*
February 13th, 2009 at 7:17 am
pls dont misunderstand when u quote 33.98 per barrel its for sweet crude unfortunately our refineries runs on sour which just so happens to be In London, the March Brent contract rose 37 cents to settle at $44.65. (cut n paste, sorry). it is a well known fact that when oil was at all time high refineries margins were maybe even negative. http://money.cnn.com/2009/02/12/news/economy/gas_prices/index.htm?postversion=2009021214
nobody likes it when they have to pay more, but i believe govt tax does play a part as well, if u look at the disparity between malaysian pump and our prices.
February 13th, 2009 at 8:11 am
haha, so left SPC yet to increase their prices….
February 13th, 2009 at 8:31 am
Shell has destroyed its image with Singaporean. Billions of advertising expenses over its near century of operation have all gone down the drain. Kind of stupid to upset consumers.
If SPC do the opposite by dropping prices, I will switch to SPC with immediate effect. No need for waste money onadvertisement.
February 13th, 2009 at 8:49 am
let pump 98 at SPC now incase they increase too
February 13th, 2009 at 9:19 am
even Budget Airlines are removing their fuel surcharges imposed in 2008 when fuel prices were at an all time high. Note the last sentence when the article mentions “….made in response to lower fuel prices.”
wonder how others in the fuel business fail to see this.
Jetstar Valuair removes all fuel surcharges
By Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 12 February 2009 1202 hrs
SINGAPORE: Singapore’s low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia/Valuair has removed all fuel surcharges.
This applies across its network - which includes Bali, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Macau, Manila, Medan, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Surabaya, Taipei and Yangon.
The price adjustment was effective from 9pm Wednesday and was made in response to lower fuel prices.

February 13th, 2009 at 10:27 am
bad news…
SPC just raised its pump price of its ULG 98 by $0.05, to $1.74.
so i guess they are getting the premium customers to bear the brunt of their “raised expectations”.
Fuel Pump Prices (S$/Litre)
ULG 98 1.740
ULG 95 1.596
ULG 92 1.588
Diesel 1.213

Just realise that SPC has followed the suit to increase their 98… really can’t image when crude oil raises back to over 100/barrel when the economy picks up again, how much will be our petrol price? easily over $3 to $4. All our basic necessities will raise rapidly again. Life is getting tougher n tougher regardless recession or not.

Cartel Says:
February 12th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
CARTEL at work… dont have too high expectation on SPC..
Hahaa…U were damn right… Btw, i thought price fixing is Spore is illegal??
February 13th, 2009 at 10:40 am
The Straits Times report this morning indicated that the price increase is probably due to OPEC cutting production last week which caused some price movement…What a joke! I didn’t know that they are so responsive to OPEC’s production. If yes, the price would have dropped a lot by now. The media seems to have taken side of those bloody oil companies. I have told one of my colleagues to boycott Shell but he told me that Shell is always the first to reduce price even though I have told him that it has always be the leader in raising prices. I have never and will never ever support Shell (alas only applicable in Singapore only….)
February 13th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Why are we still being asked to pay exhorbitant price per litre of petrol when the raw material have dropped to US 36 per barrel. Does SHELL in particular, who took the lead in raising fuel prices in Singapore recently, expect the consumers to continue supporting their company to achieve exceptional high profits…..they lamented loudly that their profits dipped in the 4th quarter of 2008……looks like the world owe the big oil companies continued exceptional high profit margins when every other sectors are having difficulties. Consumers must rally to give SHELL , EXXONMOBIL and CALTEX a message…….go to SPC. Pump small quantities, take the MRT/bus…….They project themself as corporate citizens…..they are the vultures of our society……..not lowering their expectation when everybody else are suffering. Boycott all their promotions and PR activities…they are conning us to continue paying high prices.
How much longer are the BIG OIL companies continuing to exploit the poor consumers of Singapore?
February 13th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Crude oil prices have fallen below $35 a barrel, hitting the lowest price of the year. How can oil prices keep falling and pump prices keep rising? While oil prices have plunged 24 percent so far this year, wholesale gasoline prices have surged 25 percent. Gasoline supplies are tightening — now below where they were a year ago — as refiners have cut back on production due to slow demand. Get it…………………

Singapore ‘cooks up’ petrol prices
12:00a.m. 1st February 2009
| By Alan Lander
A Cook Up? Fueltrac’s Geoff Potter says the price of oil in Singapore shot up about $15 a barrel in mid January. Photo:John McCutcheon/180703a
Why has the Coast price of unleaded petrol soared from 98 cents per litre to $1.17 – way above the normal price cycle high?
Geoff Trotter of Fueltrac thinks it’s a “cook-up” by the oil companies in Singapore, because he can’t find any triggers in the currency exchange rate, refinery problems or spikes in demand to explain it otherwise.
And he said the evidence will show in “comfortable” profits down the track for Big Oil despite the current economic crisis.
“We reckon they (oil companies) have done an OPEC,” he said yesterday.
“The price of oil in Singapore shot up by about $A15 a barrel on January 14 – we think it’s a cook-up, a supply contraction by the oil companies in Singapore.
“We think they’ve cut production.”
Mr Trotter said there was no major change in demand locally.
“Before January 14 the price was barely above the crude price, so they have lifted the refining (profit) margin,” he said.
He said at least OPEC announced when it was cutting production.
In Australia, oil companies could be prosecuted for price collusion, but in Singapore “the anti-trust laws are very different”.
And the outlook isn’t bright as far as the price coming down again.
“Given their success I think they will maintain a tighter rein over supply,” Mr Trotter said.
He said OPEC members often broke ranks on production agreements but “maybe the Singapore boys are more tightly controlled than OPEC”.
Despite the ACCC on January 21 saying the price of unleaded petrol should remain under $1per litre for quite some time, the outlook is not rosy.
Mr Trotter said such words held little weight.
“The ACCC has no power on prices anywhere let alone in Singapore,” he said. Mr Trotter said the refinery price hike will impact on the profitability before the oil reached Australia, increasing their take substantially.
“If the oil company owns service stations in Australia it marks up 10 cents a litre at the refinery, another seven cents on the wholesale price, and about 12-15 cents on the retail price,” he said.
“They have been able to get themselves into a comfortable position.”
According to petrol price monitoring site Motormouth.com.au, yesterday’s unleaded price was the highest in the last 30 days.
The December average price was 98c/litre, the highest price in the last 90 days was $126.5/litre and the highest price in the past 12 months was $161.5/litre in July 2008.

Even Aussie newspapers can see the situation here.

Even with a hundred thousand people join in ?? What can we do ?? In the end who allow the petrol copany to have Fuel Oligopoly in Singapore ?? It is the very own people which Singaporean Chooses to rule that allows all these happening !! Every 5 years We have a chance to do what is right but in the end what happen ?? We stuff the Tofu in to our nose & suffocate ourself !! When Crude drop from 147 to 80US$ our choosen one still increase 21% of our PUB bills & they blame it on the so call 3 months contract price. than 3 mths later they did drop the price by 25% but than prices of crude is down from 147US$ to below 40 US$ a drop of more than 65 % from 147 . Dear Brothers & Sisters out there !! Choose wisely this round !! We still would like them to carry on but WE DEFINATELY NEED SOME OPPS to keep a lookout for US . It is therefore like a company hiring external auditor to keep check & help the more need people of singapore . We just cannot boycot shell, the rest are all the same .
