  1. Dome Says:

OMG, will caltex reduce the 95 pricing? or maybe they will further reduce the price of 92.

  2. loo Says:

As predicted , pump price go down.
    Will go down further.
    Our economy is very weak.
Even with limited COE, people are not buying car as it use to be.
Another 2 to 3 months, we will see the real effect of recession.
Now many cannot afford to pay housing instalment, very soon car instalment too.
    Very sad case….

  3. hi Says:

The price not accurate here. SPC92 & Caltex92 should be $1.507 instead of &1.535.

  4. ESSO YEAH! Says:

LOL its working. Shell petrol kiosk is almost empty HAHAHA

  5. loster Says:

not really… shell at kovan always full with cars… the esso is just beside it. in fact esso there is much empty as compare with shell.

  6. ts Says:

Kudos to Caltex for shaking things up a bit. At least price didnt go up when crude nearing USD50. Now with OPEC not reducing supply for time being (next OPEC meeting in May) hope prices will continue hold steady or better drop. At least dont see Shell suka suka uppping prices for now. Might be due to some effort on our part or not but let’s just continue putting our consumer pressure on.

  7. D-head Says:

I was always amazed by how “cooperative” 4 “independent” companies can behave when it comes to the pricing/ how much they want to earn. gd try there.

  8. giggss Says:

I think the prices above for Caltex is not right..
    According to http://www.caltex.com/sg/en/pump_prices/2009/price_2009_03_16.asp

    Regular 92 is now 1.507
    Regular 95 is now 1.537

they are offering the cheapest octane 92 fuel islandwide now :) and yeah stay away from shell

  9. princewong Says:

hopefully they will reduce the price for regular 98 as well…. if not guess will downgrade to 95…lol

  10. SHELL YEAH! Says:

yea shell way to go in reducing pump prices!

will go pump shell 95 tonight!

  11. vt Says:

all drop at the same time except SPC. no matter who lead the drop i am going to esso now. long time ago i use to pump shell cos it is nearer to my place but since the boycott, i travel abit further to pump esso and now getting use to esso n their service staff. i think bye to shell permanently. Will done esso!!!

  12. SinPa555 Says:

Agreed ! vt. All my colleagues already use to pump @ Esso. Hope we still keep watching and see which is the leader in “Price Dropping”. Maybe can support the one who drop the $ 1st. Let start NOW !!

  13. ilovedriving Says:

just pumped at esso yesterday morning!!! sigh…
well will continue with esso until their $3 discount runs out :)

  14. william Says:

Did i see wrongly that Shell got the gut to increase Shell92 with the rest of the petrol company reducing price at this reccession period…Shell u reali going to get it this time round..Blood sucker Now i know what shell stand for SHELL=Should go th HELL…….

  15. Star_ranger99 Says:

This seems to be a large drop. 23 cents for 95.

$3 discount will end at 31th March. Hope esso will come out with some other discounts to attract customers like me : )

  16. Star_ranger99 Says:

SOrry, see wrongly. only 2.9 cents : (

  17. Caltex Says:

    SHELL is crazy….

  18. ayuyinn Says:

did sHELL like increase price for 92…?

  19. opanlink Says:

    Well done brothers and sisters!

Our hard work and persuasion is working.

yea shell way to go in reducing pump prices!

will go pump shell 95 tonight!

Luckily u pump 95 if u use 92, you gotta pay more den the other 92-er.

  21. Guardian Devil Says:

    SHELL is crazy…
    Now I’m a Caltex supporter.
    Way a go Caltex!!!

  22. Jio-ing all Shell Supporter Says:

Yo, all the Shell bro out the… those pumping 92 please continue to pump at shell to show your support. There is only $1.3 different for 50litre only. pump 50litres each time and pump 5 time per mth, it is only $6.75 different per mth and $81 per year. Small money… dun think so much … haha and most importantly we are not carrot head. its just that we can spend more .. hahahahaa

  23. Riddle of the day Says:

Somewhere on the island at a petrol kiosk, a boy and his mummy were queuing at the cashier for fuel payment. Curiously the boy ask…….

Boy ask mummy: Why the S92 is more expensive then the rest ?

Mummy answer: Because it is a premium product imported Straight from HELL !

No offend, for humor only… haha

  24. gas513 Says:

esso still the best… beside the $3 voucher, can combine the NTUC $2 voucher to get $5 discount + Smile points etc

  25. interesting Says:

Shell did not increase the price of 92. It is that they have not decrease the price yet. I think they will try to do something differenent compared to the followers Esso and SPC. So far only Caltex tried to initiate first.

If Shell did not decrease the price of 95 , do you think the rest of the companies will do so??? Many of us pump 95 instead of 92.

  26. creditShell Says:

it is true that Shell was the 1st one to reduce the price of 95 yesterday, then everyone else followed. I give credit to them.

  27. vt Says:

simple plan to me. shell did not increase so much so that most of the 92 user will go for 95 instead. although the price diff is not big for consumer, but the company will definitely earn more. They rest of the company did not follow because they want to keep a balance between all the grade user. i guess their plan will fail as user will switch to other brand. it will only work if all brand grade 92 is same price.

  28. mind your language. Says:

ok guys. i’ve been reading your silly posts for a couple of months now and i am awed at how grown men are reacting to these prices. it’s absolutely retarding and childish to think that Royal Dutch-Shell, the 3rd largest oil company in the world cares about you boycotting their stations. At best, you are making them lose a few thousand dollars a day (in tiny Singapore) by boycotting them, while the company still generates billions of dollars in revenue each year. so please, wake up and stop using fallacious arguments. :)

I personally believe that OPEC will cut supply again in May if demand and consequently oil prices continue to decline, resulting in higher oil prices. Perhaps you guys should stop complaining and start investing in oil related assets - that way you’ll actually make some money should oil prices go up in the distant futures. After all, oil prices are pretty low now.

Have a good day ahead. :)

  29. investor Says:

finally i hear some matured person talking. I agree that should invest in Oil and Gas shares. I personally am vested in ExxonMobil, Chevron and Shell. They provide good dividend payout as well. Definately better than our bank interest rates. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

  30. MInd your own mouth Says:

    mind your language,

Since you find our postings are childish to you, why bother to read for “a couple of months?”

We have the rights to commend since we are paying from our own pockets.

    Right guys??

  31. wearedriverstoo! Says:

esso give best savings for me…. everyone has their rights to choose where to pump! i like esso…. and their slogan! and this website is good too with a updates and how other drivers react to fuel prices….
for those who find this silly, then please do not waste your time and something better to do…. don’t come here to disturb us!

  32. wearedriverstoo! Says:

also i’m like this website… i pumped twice without combining the use of the NTUC $2 voucher… thanks to this website…. now i can save $2 every $50!!! so informative!!!

  33. mind your language. Says:

Haha. I’m merely serving as a voice of reason. For a man’s folly are invisible to his own eyes ever too often.

Besides, reading this page is good entertainment, nothing I can’t live without. :)

Nevertheless, as with you guys airing your opinions, I have a right to air mine. It is a “free” country and this is a neutral forum for all to air their views. Ask the administrator if you are in doubt.

    Have a great day ahead.

  34. ts Says:

Serve as voice of reason but don’t be condescending. Speculation activities like you advised have also in part contributed to record oil petrol prices which we suffered last year. I may be too moral but I find such “investments” at expense of majority of world ppl not right thing to do.

This forum is just platform for ppl to share info and maybe co-ordinate our consumer might in some focused direction. It may be small now but in any movement there must be a beginning. We just have to push through and ignore any negative comments that may come.

  35. amused Says:

“for a man’s folly is invisble to his own eyes ever too often” indeed. if its applicable to whoever you are directing it at, is it not applicable to you as well?

a voice of reason? where’s the reasoning? when you say reason, do you mean name-calling? like retarded, childish? is that a new form of reasoning?

sure, big oil may have their own agenda for the actions taken so far, and we might not be making as big as impact as some of us think are.

but i’ll tell you this. people are sitting up and taking notice.

to reiterate what ts said, “it may be small now, but in any movement there must be a beginning”.

as for you, i suggest you get rid of your high-handedness, or all you’ll be doing is airing your opinion, instead of participating in healthy discussion.

  36. ???? Says:

Shell dose not feel a pinch about the amount they lost a day on this boycott. It does not affect their profit margin much. But this boycotting is really bothering the board so much that they have held at least 4 meetings between feb to mar09 discussing on the issue. Dont ask me how i know.

Don’t you find yourself more silly than the people here since you said that you are reading these ’silly post’ for a couple of months. Like you said, this is a free country and everyone got the right to say something. But that doesn’t give you the right to call people retarded and childish. It sound like you are here to create trouble instead of giving advice.
Anyway, we are not going to Shell and this is the least we can do.

  39. ESSO YEAH! Says:

    Hohoho… Boycotting is working…

Now we have some Shell’s company own mole coming in to tell us it is not working, when IN FACT IT IS WORKING WELL…

I am sure all of us can identify these few Shell’s own pple…

Since they are not interested in our “thousands dollars a day”… We should not patronise them.
I will bring my money elsewhere then.
Lets give our money to some other company who wants our money!!!

We are doing GREAT! KEEP BOYCOTTING SHELL ! We will win the war sooner than you know…

We are already winning… Shell is scared already :)

  43. mind your language. Says:

Apologies if you felt attacked in the previous posts. I guess only time will tell if this grand scheme works. I guess “turning the other cheek” doesn’t exist in Singapore. Makes you wonder where society is heading.

Thanks guys. Keep up the good work boycotting shell. :) Wish you guys well and I hope to see some substantial results soon. Afterall, it will ultimately benefit me if prices go down as well. Haha.

  44. ts Says:

For me, the aim is for petrol companies to provide responsible pricing with adequate information given to customers for any need in price increase. Both of these have been sorely lacking from petrol companies for so long. It doesn’t help that we know petrol companies have been paying out big bonuses year after year, yet complain very tight margins in their pricing. Since we are not able to get any agency to help clear our doubts, I see this “boycott” as ppl taking helping themselves through some collected effort. Unfortuntely in this instance Shell has become the scapegoat due to its recent price hikes which seemed unjustified. However, for me, same scenario goes to other petrol companies. If they fall into same trap as Shell, i don’t have any qualms boycotting any of them. But for now, I still boycott Shell.

Mind your language, if you are sincere in providing advise I hope you’d do so without any name calling. I believe this is what provoked such heated response from others. As a result, whatever advise you may have is lost as only your bad language gets heard. To give u the benefit of the doubt, I hope you were sincere in trying to give your views. In which case, I am sorry you were attacked as a result of it.

  46. Verna Says:

I guess most drivers go to the petrol company that offers the best value, and right now, with the $3 discount voucher + $2 ntuc discount voucher, i guess the best choice is Esso. Unless it’s super inconvenient, I dun see why drivers will not go for it. I dun see Shell giving discount vouchers or more rebates for any particular credit card.

No doubt Shell starts the price decrease first, but then again, Shell starts the price increase first as well. And price increase > price decrease.

  47. Dome Says:

does the $3 for esso still have…. heard some ppl complaining say esso need voucher to have the $3 discount. isit true

  48. Derek Says:

I never get the $3 dollar voucher from Esso station then suddenly declare need voucher. Piss me off

  49. stupid gina bengs Says:

When they give negative comments about this Boycott, Actually i felt great, it means that more shell people are watching this site, it has got their attention, and maybe they are getting worried to see that this Boycotting has grown.

Btw, yes i m childish but the boycotting numbers has grown quiet alot these months and i m happy.

To all Shell Supports: Thanks for paying attention to this site. Thank you very much. Muacckk……! =)

I think we are more to the smart side rather then childish….we are smart consumer. We boycott and go to another company that is more value for $$….more points more discounts. If the so called “matured” pple wanna stick to shell and pay more, so be it. I guess most likely either their companies uses shell card or their petrol are sponsored by their parents. We worked hard for our money, of course must get the best value out of it. =)

  61. ascyo Says:

We can’t make all drivers stop going to Shell or make them close shop, but at least they don’t make a single cent from me. We can still see people going to Shell but at least we can reduce the numbers with our effort of boycott them. This is what we can do. Keep it up.

  64. opanlink Says:

    Well said Verna!

We are smart consumers. Let the “matured” consumers continue to let Shell earn their money.

Even Americans are voicing out and fighting back now that their tax-money is used to pay AIG bonuses. The last that I heard is that the US govt is assisting AIG to wind down in an orderly manner.

We too, have a say in where we want our money to go. We are consumers with a mind of our own.

  66. linelineline Says:

Regardless of whether there will any “real” effect upon Shell or fuel prices, I say as consumers, let’s vote with what we have: our feet! I fail to see how choosing another petrol company because of its better value or its avoidance of leading with price increases can be portrayed as being “childish”.

I choose not to let Shell earn a single cent from me, and I believe many other bros have chosen to do so too. Keep it the good work guys! If Shell has indeed organised several board meetings because of our collective action, I say we have done something right.

  67. Well Done Says:

When I pass by Shell stations, I always try to look and see how empty it is. In fact a few Shell stations are really empty. For example, the one at Upper Bukit Timah. There are 2 Esso stations there vs 1 Shell station, and both Esso stations always have more cars than Shell whenever I passed by.

Yesterday at about 10 plus at night, Esso’s credit card payment was unavailable, but I decided against pumping at Shell and rather waited until this morning to pump at Esso, partially due to the many promos Esso has such as the $3 discount for pumping $50, NTUC $2 voucher and the fact Citibank Divident Platinum has 8% rebate, but also because I will never patronise Shell unless in times of desperation where last only last drop of petrol is left in tank and no other sstations are in sight. Even then, I will only pump $10

  68. Well Done Says:

    Dome Says:

    Derek Says:

    March 18th, 2009 at 1:53 am
I never get the $3 dollar voucher from Esso station then suddenly declare need voucher. Piss me off

Regarding the $3 vouchers running out and now Esso require customers to produce that, what I understand was that previously, the cashiers kept stacks of the vouchers beside them, and anytime someone pumps $50, they will take a $3 voucher and attach to the receipt, and the customer enjoys $3 discount.

Most probably that has run out in some of their petrol kiosks, but I have a few pieces left because during my conversation with the cashier during payment, the person has gave me some because she said I should keep some just in case they run out of it.

So that is how they have saved customers from the hassle of producing vouchers previously to enjoy $3 discount.

Most likely they have a limited budget for this discount marketing effort and they determined that once the vouchers are used up, they will stop providing the $3 discount even though it is not yet March 31st.

  69. wearedriverstoo! Says:

come on! the $3 discount is a bonus! on top of the 5% station discounts and other card discounts…. for those who miss the $3 voucher…. purchase of $30 at NTUC gives you $2 discount for Esso… that’s not too bad….
just remember to ask the cashier at Esso for the $2 NTUC voucher with every $50 pump.
So in all, there is a $4 direct discount!! yeah!
promo till April…. for those who don’t shop at NTUC like me… i’m sure family & friends have plenty!!

If shell is no longer ard, probably another indian chief will that over and leaving us with fewer choice. Thanks shell supporter and cheers for all non-shell. Please stay united and grab while stock last !!! Haha

  73. hesperus Says:

Oil prices has broken US$50 per barrel already.. I think a petrol price increase is imminent..

  74. Guardian Devil Says:

    hesperus,

Don worry, the oil will drop again.

  75. Lolo Says:

    Oil price will drop.

Many companies especially transport companies are have very little bussines
son fule consumption is only 30%.

Oil price go up due to manipulation, but cannot last long.

With electric cars coming into the market.

    Oil price wil drop drastically.

No turning back previous high price anymore.

Just like companies migrate to other countries will
    not come back to Singapore….

  76. ABBACADABRA Says:

Some ppl just like to post their frustration in this forum so they feel relieved. That’s goods. Be it shell, esso, SPC or even caltex, they are not doing good for the environment, the more they reduce the price of petrol, more ppl will consume their product and thus it would create more carbon monoxide. My suggestion… lets take public transport and stop this price war. If everyone takes public transport, there is no reason these petrol compaines will increase the petrol prices.

  77. meepoking Says:

Since day 1 i bought my car last year, i am anti shell and pro caltex , esso or even spc.

But Caltex petrol really suit my car. With a OCBC debit card i can get 10.1 % discount + points but should i choose to use Safra card I can get 12% but no points. Dont you think this is a big bargain?

Yea man, boycott Shell. All 3 car in my family are converted to Caltex user.

Count me in among your ranks!!!!!!!

  78. Guardian Devil Says:

    ABBACADABRA ,

If everyone takes public transport, let’s say 80% increase of the population who drive takes public transport (inclusive of those population) taking now.
Do you think LTA can handle or not?
Bus fare will go up, MRT fares will also go up.
Leads to no space to stand in the MRT stations, bus stops and MRT.
And we have to pay for a higher price to squeeze?
Everyday is human jam pack inclusive non-peak hours.
Diesel price will also go up.
Don’t tell me tat buses and taxis don need diesel?

There must be a balance of public transport and driving own transport.
    Do you agree?

  79. Lolo Says:

    if eveyone take public transport.
No more price war but have monoply in public transport.
No monoxide but have human xide

    Balancing is the right way…

  80. Aussie watchdog Says:

Seriously as a singaporean myself staying in australia, i pity all of u guys back in Sg. Crude prices in aus have already drop to $1.00 - $1.10/ L while u guys are still overpaying those blood suking petrol companies. thats all because theres no governing bodies in sg to control those blood suker while protecting the interest of local singaporean (let alone CASE. dont think they got the balls to go after shell or caltex).

i guess you guys know who to vote for next time.

  81. lolo Says:

    Hey,

I will not vote against a party who is doing a very good job, just because of differences in fuel prices.

Overall, we are must better that other countries who has lost in currency, people starting bush fire and
    discriminating immigrants.

By the way you call yourself Singaporean but sign off as Aussie watchdog. I am not sure of your sincerity.

Stay focus, do not be distracted…..

  83. hesperus Says:

lolo, i like your reply.. Anyway aussie fuel prices differ spore prices by 30-40 cents cos of the fuel excise tax.. If dun have such tax the price will be the same, if not lower, since aussie imports fuel from spore as well..

Might as well walk if the place is reachable within like 15-20mins…. haha i still walk to nearby places even i own a car. Take it as a form of exercise.

  85. hesperus Says:

vt: What about you converting to CNG? Its environmentally friendly as it releases only water vapours and much lower Co2..

Plus, the gas is cheaper than petrol too..

  86. vt Says:

ya, that is wat i have in mind. i’ll be changing a car towards the end of the year. i am also considering changing it to CNG. the only concern is there ain’t alot of gas pump

taking about public transport… i tried and i gave up. it takes me at least 1.5 hrs to travel to work and 1.5 hrs to travel back home. total, i got to spend 3 hours on public transport. most of the time, time wast on long wait for bus in the peak hour both in the morning and evening. and when on bus in the evening back home, i have to squeeze myself through and that last about an hour. by the time i reach home… i will have to take my dinner at least at 9pm and feeling more tired (not just from day work… but from the traveling) i tried to survive on this… till i gave up.

now with driving… i can spend more time with my family. i cut down my traveling time from 3 hrs to about 1 hrs per day.

Where did you get this info from? checked Shell’s website can’t find this promo

  92. ESSO YEAH! Says:

    HOHOHO… Our boycott is working….

Shell doing some stunts to lure customers…

Stay focused! we must make them drop price to 1.20…. BOYCOTT SHELL!!!!

  93. Jason Says:

    Whatever they do… i still boycott SHELL>>>>

Come on selling Vpower at the price of 98 still wan to put time limit. might as well dun do it.

if want to impress us.. do more like what Caltex did… premium petrol at a price of 98 any time of the day.

  94. vt Says:

Something to share abt the rewards:

Caltex 1 litre = 1 Thanks! Point (350 points for $10 petrol redemption and 1400 points for $40)
Esso $1.25 spent = 1 Smiles Point (300 points for $10 petrol redemption and 750 points for $30)
Shell 1 litre (except v-power) = 1 Escape Point and 1 litre v-power is 1.2 Escape Points (700 points for $20 petrol redemption)

  95. hehe Says:

downfall of big organisation can be cause by greed for profit or some smart alex’s hunger for performance…..

  96. Esso_ Says:

Esso provides the best $$$ value when you pump:

    1. Better points reward
    2. NTUC redemption $2
    3. $3 voucher discount

I pump a $50 value at Esso with all discounts and my DBS Mastercard. I actually paid $40 for it. Its a tidy 20% discount without inluding the smiles points earned.

  97. Verna Says:

Still support esso, the only company that sticks to 1 smile point for every $1.25. Unless the pump price drops below $1.25, then it will lose its value…by when will we see pump price lower than $1.25 per litre nowadays? Plus all the good promo that applies to all grades of petrol (such as $3 off plus ntuc $2 off). It’s really value for $$.

  98. xxxjl Says:

Looks like boycott Shell did really work, let keeps doing it until they start to drop the price further. In the mean time, still pump petrol from JB….Hahaha

  99. Esso Supportor Says:

I would like to share the promotion form Esso too cause it provides the best discount:

    1) $1.25 spent = 1 Smiles Point (750 points for $30 petrol redemption = 3.2% Discount)
    2) $2 voucher discount when you spend $30 at NTUC
    3) $3 voucher discount for Esso (Till 31 March 09)
    4) 5% + 3% rebate from Citibank Dividend card
    5) 5% station discount
    6) $2 NUTC voucher when pump $5(Till 15 April 09)

So when I pump a $50 value at Esso with all discounts, I actually paid $35.50. (which is 29% discount in total)

  100. Voucherman Says:

Hi, can anyone tell me which esso station still giving $3 Voucher discount? Macpherson Esso station staff say they had no more $3 voucher liao for past 2 weeks! I already lost $6!!! Please help. Thanks.

  101. SHELL YEAH! Says:

    childish

  102. Mark Says:

quick go to esso and fill up. Shell has already increase price, Esso have not. I just top $50.

  103. vt Says:

Confirm, shell up liao… the rest haven’t… grab now… haha
