October 22nd, 2009 at 8:35 pm
Looks like another traffic jam creation by Shell on Sat.
October 22nd, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Shell is forced to do this because of our boycott……….and also becuase they have lost sales to SPC due to their attractive coupon program. Thats the way to go SPC !!!
October 22nd, 2009 at 9:30 pm
wait..if i am not holding Corporate Shell Card, Personal Shell Card Customers, i cant enjoy thos offer?i only have shell escape card..
October 22nd, 2009 at 10:20 pm
The promotion is for ALL and not only corporate or personal shell card customers. i believe if you use UOB credit card, you will still get 5% rebate.
October 22nd, 2009 at 10:42 pm
The shell promo sounds really good! I’m gonna support them this sat with my UOB cc..
October 22nd, 2009 at 11:01 pm
let’s see if the rest follow. I dislike them being the 1st to raise prices. But they always give funny promotions that no one else wanna follow. Love hate relationship.
October 22nd, 2009 at 11:39 pm
bound to be a lot of pple.
thought of pumping, but then rem the bad experience i had last time. in the end, pump full tank @esso today.
don’t understand why they have to come up with such promotions.
if they really sincere, then maybe extend the no.of days, give in terms of coupon etc.
foresee traffic jams…
October 23rd, 2009 at 12:04 am
Since all petrols are at $1 nett, then wouldn’t pumping 98 be a better discount since it’s the most expensive one before discount?
October 23rd, 2009 at 12:55 am
huh…. but my tank is full of 95 from spc… mixed with 98 will spoilt anot?
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:19 am
no wonder, i spotted a teenager with the “sandwich” board walking up and down the road leading to the Shell station, yesterday.
The sign says $1/ litre ….. but I did not catch the full message.
Looks like many “deserters” of Shell will go back for this promo, I am one of them.
Let’s see if the fuel saver really works.
October 23rd, 2009 at 9:40 am
Anyone bringing tin cans to fill extra to store at home?
Can CPC, I mean SPC, Caltex, ESSO buy from Shell?
Will it be sold out by 10.30am?
October 23rd, 2009 at 9:51 am
please boycott C.HAM !!
it’s a plot !!!
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:09 am
I have caltex 92 half tank in my car, can i pump the Shell Fuelsave 95/98 tom? Any issues? Thanks in advance!!
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 am

juz pump V-power in JB oso $1/liter anytime….
Go for supper aft tat some more.
For those who is going to Q…Gd Luck.
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:25 am
It OK to mix. but don’t do it too often. And you don’t get (95+98)/2=96.5RON.
October 23rd, 2009 at 10:56 am
Shell biz is on corporate users, dosmestic is like dirt to them. Only when times are bad, they target on domestic.
Think : A promotion that last so many hours, they are really hard up for sales.
I will not be going becos I recently went for BACKBONE operation, GOT BACK BONE liao.
BOYCOTT: people said, it won’t work in Sg becos Singaporeans dun have backbone. This is a good case study.
First Biz do customer wrong. Then, ppl reduce or turn away from SHELL . The boycott is almost sucessful. THEN biz owner give promotion and discount, so no backbone ppl go. The Biz can now survive, thanks to these ppl.
October 23rd, 2009 at 11:16 am
i dun boycott anybody…….. i follow the $$$ value, which one have the best offer i go to who.
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:36 pm
Never see any “While Stock Last” clause anywhere…. even I turn up last min. also guarantee got petrol for me?
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Dun go wif your tank almost drain out hor! Hv to take into consideration of the queue n jam hor. Dun be cheapo until your car got stalled in the queue hor
Enjoy your queue… Let see any ugly incident tmr appearing in the news…
Yes, indeed Shell is not environmentally friendly co. by causing all these jams around the island. Dun be surprised someone may be queuing twice tmr…cos morning pump liao…. go jalan then go top up in the evening…
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:02 pm
yeah, bound to have a jam as C HAm has done the following:
1. SMS all those who signed up their C HAM card.
2. Broadcast over national radio Gold 90 FM
3. Even the hawkers at the coffeeshop i went to this afternoon, are talking abt it!
Instead of an ad hoc event, why not do a bit longer term like drop 20 cents per litre for the entire week or month?

October 23rd, 2009 at 4:05 pm
Frankly I thought they need to do it well because such marketing campaigns can leave a bad taste in the mouth of the consumer if it is improperly handled..
I agree with Green Buddy, why not do it over a longer period of time say for the entire weekend (like the V-power promo) so that there will be no rush and more ppl can try out their proclaimed higher efficiency fuel?

See they re-phrase the while stock last with while supplies are available……. no one even noticed that
Anyway my bet is popular kiosk will finished their stock by 1pm whereas the rest might finish at 3pm……
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:41 pm
I think the petrol that is on offer are not those fuel efficient ones…… sorry to be so skeptical but my gut feeling tells me these are the old stocks……. if not why aint V-power on promo?
October 23rd, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Maybe Shell refinery had some problem and Shell is trying to clear the OFF SPEC product thru this gimmick.
My car more precious………I dont want to save a few dollars on this gimmick
October 23rd, 2009 at 11:08 pm
thought of joining the queue tomorrow, but guess its gonna be a long wait…
October 24th, 2009 at 2:06 am
“Maybe Shell refinery had some problem and Shell is trying to clear the OFF SPEC product thru this gimmick.

This makes a bit of sense. I think they want to clear off some “old stock”. No particular shop will do a warehouse sale unless they want to clear and make way for new ones. Just my opinion. = )
October 24th, 2009 at 9:30 am
let’s face it. we are suckers for such gimmicks. having said that, see you guys there later!
October 24th, 2009 at 9:37 am
has the queue started?
October 24th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Went to fill up and came back. Started queueing at 9.50am. Cisco was crowd controlling, so was very organized. Took about 30 minutes in total.
October 24th, 2009 at 10:50 am
yeah.. just pumped and came back.. queue at 9.45am… filled to the brim with 45L… just for mere $45… good!! Vpower also on promo.. $1.18/l
October 24th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Wah lao The seng kang cisco police so late den come out!! havn’t 10 already got queue!! den ppl CB cut queue OR try to use the straight traffic junction to cut queue!! KNN! Stupid Shell should have map out an area for car to queue up mah den cisco polic wear a hat or badge or lan yard or vest to identify he is shell marshal so can guide all the car to queue up correctly. and marshal all the road with left lane opening den ok liao mah!! then put up road sign to guide the car also.
damn stupid dunno what they thinking!! Bound to be accident! as some ppl dunno blur cork miss the queue den kan chiong try super hard to swave their car in dangerously!! to join the queue. plus bus also cannot go through due to 2 lane 1 lane occupied by queue, the other is jokers trying to cut queue! Bus horn horn horn joker also bo chap until 1 kind hearted fellow let the joker cut his queue!!
Hope LTA FINE SHELL!! DUE to improper planning!
October 24th, 2009 at 11:27 am
Hey no shell card how? Still can enjoy offer?
October 24th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Nice work SHELL
Buses cannot enter or leave bus bay, had to stop at outer lanes & block all traffic
Vehicles cannot change lanes, cannot turn left at junctions, some cannot u-turn, stuck in yellow boxes
Waste time wash car at SHELL
Those tuned for Vpower or want tot pump vpower also had to endure
So many e-brakes were seen
Whose insurance went up due to accident?
How many vehicles stalled due to insufficient fuel while queueing?
October 24th, 2009 at 11:49 am
How many had bonnets popped due to surge of TP for controlling traffic?
How many were booked for stopping in yellow box?
October 24th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
my fren was caught in a 20 min jam while waiting to fill up his pump. Will Shell stop the promo before 6pm, citing station has no more petrol? lol
October 24th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Hi guys…
pls check it out..
I fuel meter shows half tank . ( Cap 55 lit).
I pump almost 36 lit for the half tank…
Looks link some adjustment in their meter…
Pls watch…..
October 24th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Patta u know y?? Cos the uncle kan chiong press full lock on the petrol nozzle!! U must latch at the 1st catch not the last catch. Meaning pump at half flow rate NOT full!! Reason is because when u pump at full, there will be alot of petrol vapour like u flush water in the toilet in the pail like dat u pump fast there’s alot of bubble thus causing the petrol nozzle thinks that it’s full tank already due to the vapour sensor attached on the nozzle!!
Understand? Cos Last time I also dunno self service I happy happy full latch fastest flow rate end end half tank also den try & try & try to pump but cannot!! so I ended up emailing the petrol station for advice and the above is what they thought me.
October 24th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
HI Ai Yah,
You are right..
Next time I will try your method….
thanks
October 24th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I have the same problem……….some thing wrong……….my bill $ 40 litres for 3/4 tank………..and they dont want to talk or listen…………they say come tomorrow…………….I HATE SHELL
October 24th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
SHELL Is cheating….
My tank cap is 60 liters and today I pump until 72 lits..
They thought Singaporen’s are #$%^^
October 24th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
people give you discount, you still complain. then you queue up for what? they have in the thousands to serve, and they need to speed up service. i ride a bike and it’ll be useless to queue up cuz i only save $4 max and i also think that it would waste time just to queue. i’d probably wait for after 6? or like tmr or smth to pump.
please be considerate and enjoy the offer.
October 24th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
anyway queue is at 1 1/2 hrs now. awesomely long. one traffic light to the other is 1/2 hr on avg!
October 24th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Hi Ben..
I am not complaining…
I mean they want to give you free BUTTER…..

lol john wasnt talking about you . hope u make use of ur 1 for 1 petrol!
October 24th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Dunno why u guys r bitching about the $1 promo like meter cheating, queue, waiting time, explainations… Just pump at other pumps la, after all its a Caveat Emptor policy.
FYI, I waited 15 mins @ Siglap around 11am this morning, no honking, no incidents, all civil. 30 litres in tank as expected from my fuel meter.
Sounds like birds of a feather flocked alike for those who complains so much of this good deal. Sia Sui Lan….
October 24th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Just got back from the queue, not bad….20min only..
October 24th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
Hi Bryangohjt…
Finally you manage to get..
Ha ha ha ha…
October 24th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
1st time pump Shell. Waited 1 hr for the pump. Wasted 1 litre of petrol for the 1 hr of wait. I still think it’s worth it. Wait to see if the FC will be better as they claim.
October 24th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
waited ard 20min at AMk ave 8 shell ard 10am..cool…if only fuel can stay this price always…1st time pump 98, recently switches 95 to 92..ok ,,back to SPC after this promo..haha
October 24th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Did anyone give a thought that at $1 they still earn? After subtracting 41c for gov fuel tax, leaving 59c they still have some profit… even after the day’s operating costs, engaging those Aux police and boys carrying advert boards walking around… Meaning the usual pricing at $1.7, profit is…
October 24th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Went to pump @ 3.30 just now , AMK Ave 8.
98 is out of stock , so only pump 95…but quite fast 25 mins only.
October 24th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Went to pump just now also… pump around 35l… anyway, i saw the “pump price change” label at Esso Station just now.. Is there any revision in price today for Esso?
October 24th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
aiya … go jb for v-power oso same minus the hassle to queue for so long … lagi can shop for stuff and makan there …
October 24th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
I am one of the victims of que jumpers. KNNCB this farking que jumper cut behind me, then the car behind me in order to prevent the queue jumper from cutting in, move forward, but move forward too much and hit me from the back. I scolded the farking que jumper at shell station and he was super arrogant saying that he is right and HAS TO JUMP QUEUE COS HE LIVES NEAR THE STATION AND CANNOT GO ONE BIG ROUND TO QUEUE.
Dear MR Queue Jumper, if you are reading this, you know who you are.
October 24th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
I headed to shell at 2.30pm, cos thinking that those off-peak vehicles will be out at 3pm. Try Shell Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, saw the jam at the exit at AYE, drive straight and head to Shell Boon Lay. However, have difficulty joining the queue there cos I was horn by the bus behind me at the traffic light, so give up.
I decided to try later, and head towards NTU library. Haha, spent my time in the library reading books. I left the library around 1.5hrs later, saw the queue was still very long at Shell (the one near Jalan Bahar). So I give up and decide to go Autobacs in Bt Batok to check on my tyres. Saw the jam around 500m from Autobacs and realized that there is a Shell beside Autobacs, so decide to join in my queue since i already in the queue.
Queue for 30mins and finally reach Shell, haha, pump 98 at 37.94litres for $37.94. Good deal.
I am a SPC supporter, always pump 95 on my vehicle at SPC. After pumping Shell 98, I can feel that my vehicle pick up become better, maybe due to the different grade of petrol. Hope, SPC can also have such promotion soon.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:49 am
funny leh. today i pump full tank at shell, and on my receipt it shows $1.05 per litre. Does it appear on your receipt too? Or the $1 is before GST?
Thanks!
October 25th, 2009 at 5:57 am
petrolboy!! it’s normal. if u see the pump meter, there display 1.053 on the reciept also 1.053. But just below the 1.053, there’s actually some adjustment to minus of the 5.3cent to make it 1 dollar.
can find the adjustment??
October 25th, 2009 at 9:52 am
i suggest they do it from 12am -6am ..
at least it doesnt cause inconveniences to other road users ..
at least i would consider queing when the weather is cooler…
October 25th, 2009 at 10:48 am
my receipt shows $1.053 per litre. pump 35.91 litres cost $37.81. no adjustment leh.
October 25th, 2009 at 11:30 am
won, there should be a petrol discount after the pump price.
My receipt shows:
Item Price Qty Amount
Shell 98 1.053 37.93 $39.94
Petrol Discount 0.05 -37.94 -$2.00
Total: $37.94
October 25th, 2009 at 11:49 am
Got some prices change when I wa going home around 1.45am yesterday midnight.
Esso had this notice of price changes on their billboard. Anyone knows what’s the deal?
My 2cents: silent killer is ass-hole, by market value 2nd biggest in the world, bigger than ‘Xiao’ , such a joke that they are being leaded by the nose n by who? Their hated competitor ‘Xiao’ , the biggest joke when the world hears about this. Hahahaha
October 25th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
To those who got the CHeap C ham Petrol, good for you
To who kena cut queue and bang, sorry to hear abt that, singaporeans are super kiasu when it comes to deal like that.
For those who did not, never mind also. Probably you guys value time more than money. Imagine the precious time spend in the queue, and with the engine running, and putting out carbon dioxide into the air without getting to anywhere, i would hardly call that being environmentally friendly. But Hell, we live in a space and age where most pplw think that our economy, as well as our wallet, is more fragile than our environment, and the ice caps melting.
was on my way to drop my mother in law at bt batok and noticed that the both lanes of the road was jammed. Usually, only one side will be jammed as pple were going to this very popular church. That sat, both sides jammed cos another side was leading to the C ham station next to autobacs.
October 25th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Hehe, I got my share of discounted C.ham petrol, although observed same problem as some of forumers here, which is more litres pumped than my meter suggest..
Anyway, see from my ODO meter and fuel meter that efficiency from the “FUELSAVE” fuel didn’t really improve afterall.. May be to early to judge yet..
Anyway, great savings! I spent only about 20min to pump, and generally the crowd was quite civil (maybe because of police there)..
October 25th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
The best is……. every other petrol companies come out with this kind of promotion.
High sales = Petrol company earn + Consumers Save more = Win Win Situation.
Best of both worlds.
Cheers!

(Just my 2 cents thought)
Well well, i didnt even bother to go Shell to pump during the promotion. $1 or $0.50 or whatever shit they say I also dont care. No more Shell bullshit for me. I support Caltex.
Shell is treating the domestic consumers like kids. Their promotion is like, “Hello kids! For these few hours, you may buy your Milo from the Milo Vans for $1 only! Yey!” The problems they created over this so called “promotion” is so unprofessional or perhaps, their planning for this was too aggressive and short-sighted that they turned selfish and careless of the external effect their promotion may cause.
Cmon Shell, you dont have to do this to gain back the losses from the very people whom turned their backs on you cause your fuel prices and whatsoever promotions are crap!
Suddenly im really really not happy with Shell. Way to go Shello. Crap.
October 26th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Shell only get my business for 10 mins from 10am - 1010am on sat.
November 2nd, 2009 at 11:48 pm
lousy fuel saving formula. my car fc actually went up due to fact tat i was using e c hum 98 during the $1 promo. i’m only getting 440km on 38+++l while in the past other 98 petrol, probably i can get 460km on 37+++l
