Only RON98? What abt RON 92, 95?
October 26th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
aint gonna fall, they are just trying to match SPC who refused to waiver to the BIG 3.. good work SPC!

I doubt this will stay for long as oil prices still above US$80 per barrel.

I really admire SPC this time round as they refuse to bulge so SPC have force the big boy to follow their ron 98 pricing. the big boys is also having no backbone. SPC should always lead the price to go lower. Good work SPC !

I dun like SPC’s fuel cos the fuel efficiency very poor. I thought there wouldn’t be any difference between the brands but I was wrong.. For Altis, from full tank to 3/4 I can travel 150+km.. but with SPC only 110km+..

Hi hesperus,
i agree with u. SPC fuel efficiency is bad. The quality of the fuel is poor.
In fact, i notice each time i pump SPC, my engine will be noiser. However, if i were to pump ESSO & Shell,
my engine run is smoother.
For SPC with 33 litres of pump, i am able to travel only 420km.
If i were to pump ESSO & Shell, i am able to travel 470+km.

Is it true that Ron 92 fuel has lower fuel efficiency than Ron 95?
End of the day, should we monitor Price per Km, rather than Price per Litre?

In the past that may have been so, but I have read that nowadays, the ECU is “clever” enough to optimise the engine performance such that there will be little or no difference in terms of efficiency for the 2 oils.
In essence, nowadays we should read Ron 92 and Ron 95 as different specifications, not necessary grade of the fuel. This of course goes against what the big petrol companies want us to believe (because if we pump 95 when what our car really needs is only 92, they make the difference
). Personally I have tried 95 and 98 fuel with absolutely no difference in efficiency at all, haha..

Tried SPC many times due to their promotion but felt that their fuel is not fuel efficient compared to other companies. Maybe that why they are “cheaper” (ie more discounts) compared to the rest. For me personally, i feel the best quality is Shell. (maybe thats why they offer the least discount among all). I guess what you pay is what you get.

SPC is now owned by China company. Wondered would there by any changes in strategy?
October 27th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
knn.. decrease 98 only… for a moment i was puzzled how come so good petrol company will reduce price now… until i saw its only for 98,,, its wishful thinking !!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Hahaha…. just a delay tactics to tell ppl that petrol is reducing price but in an general form….
October 28th, 2009 at 8:18 am
I pumped V-power from JB after a trip back from Malacca, i have to admit it makes my gear shift transmission better compare with the other grades of petrol.
I guess its really true about paying more for quality.
October 29th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
crude price has dropped.. when are the bloodsucking petrol companies gg to give back my price reduction!!
October 29th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
the drop is too little for them to take action. need to hit at least $70 before they will reduce.
October 30th, 2009 at 6:13 am
Avoid caltex at all time bcoz they always the 1st to increase the price. Support SPC for not increasing the price unrealistically. Plus SPC have at least 10% discount not includeding $2 off ever $40 top up. GO SPC!!

Today till Sun 7 to 11pm got Vpower promo…..going to pump Vpower later tonight.
