when will e price drop???
December 11th, 2009 at 8:55 am
Exxon Mobil has just started a new coupon, $3 discount with every $50 purchase of petrol!
December 11th, 2009 at 10:52 am
Thanks kenincf for informing … glad to hear that Exxon finally follow suit.
But when is their offer end?
December 11th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Wah! Esso not bad!!
5% site
6% voucher
5% citibank
5% dividend$ (if they dont screw it again)
3% smiles points
quite a lot man!!
December 11th, 2009 at 11:41 am
but still lousier than caltex at clementi.
my home 25 km from clementi. not worth going down there just to pump petrol. Must think of some other things to do at clementi. ogle at nice girls at nus, sp canteens?
December 11th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Saw at esso station at choa chu kang (near teck whye one) that they are giving 2x smiles points till dec 31.
Not sure if the offer can go concurrently with the $3 voucher. Anybody know ????
December 11th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Casper, for I know you should be able to use them concurrently, I got them together during Oct when they have this 2x points promo together with some discount voucher.
But you can always ask them just to confirm.
Hope this helps…
December 11th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Thanks Kelvin, i believe it can be used concurrently also.
I just recalled that they gave similar promotion at clementi ave 2 station as well.
Thanks and have a nice weekend….
By the way, oil price has dropped from near to USD$80 to USD$71.
While I don’t expect the prices to drop so fast, it should not increase.
Also, from petrol station uncles, they said petrol prices usually get adjusted on tue, wed or thur.
Hope the prices will drop next tue….
December 11th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
hi, somehow esso / mobil still not as good as shell which give out S$3 off for S$40 purchase leh:(
December 11th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
Casper,
Do you mean that the one at clementi ave 2 now have that 2x smiles point promo too?
I go there quite often, if so then I can pump there to enjoy them.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Actually, I meant the one at clementi ave 2 used to hold a similar promotion.
I happened to pass by the one at choa chu kang and they are currently having the same promotion.
By the way, just to clarify, it is the one beside the ITE that is under construction.
There are a number of esso stations there…
December 12th, 2009 at 8:30 am
Hi Kelvin,
The Esso at Clementi is now Caltex. The one giving the discount. For info.
December 12th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
i see …. ok … thanks for informing.
December 12th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Wah oil is below $70 a barrel already, still no change in price. blood suckers !!!:(
December 12th, 2009 at 4:26 pm

December 12th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
Anyone knows where to get the Shell vouchers? I went to a few stations to ask and the cashiers all do not know what I am talking about.
December 13th, 2009 at 11:37 am
I have received $3 discount coupons from shell thru mail. There are a total of 4 coupons which are date limited, are to to consumed from 7 Dec till 3 Jan 2010. They are 1: 7 to 13 Dec, 2: 14 - 20 Dec, 3: 21 - 27 Dec & 4: 28 Dec - 3 Jan.
December 14th, 2009 at 7:58 am
hi guys..
do u all know if all the esso kiosks will have the coupons ? we can jus go there and collect ya ? bcoz we pumped yesterday but was not given the coupons. n same thing , the cashier did not seem to know what we’re talking about ??! =/
thanks !!
jiez
December 14th, 2009 at 10:34 am
I got mine on sat, but the cashier did not offer to give me any vouchers untiil i asked him about it.
December 14th, 2009 at 11:49 am
KNN.. crude oil now at 68++ instead of giving this stupid vouchers.. i want to see my price reduction!! and i want a more than 5c price reduction!!!!
December 14th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
The last time the oil companies wrote to the press, they listed down a no. of factors that affect the pump prices.
imho, the 2 most variable components are USD vs SGD and crude oil future.
Currently, crude price down but USD went against SGD.
So, even if they cut, it probably won’t cut a lot.
December 14th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
well, it’s monday already and nothing has changed. Jus the couple of us making noise here. i have been holding out, not pumping full tank in anticipation of price drops. NOTHING YET!!! : P
December 14th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
sianz hope toml then drop 10cents
December 14th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
Time to drop pump prices. Oil cos. act blur when crude prices drop. Remember Caltex raise price a week ago and quickly drop price again. ACT now to drop pump price.
December 14th, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Anyway, just pump $10 each visit until pump price is adjusted downwards.
December 14th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
just went to pump at esso this afternoon, but manage to pump to only $48, plead the cashier to include in the discount voucher, but she insisted cannot .. .KNN … partly my fault, too kan cheong and went to pump, LL paid and go …. sianzzz
December 14th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
yeah sianz.. raise price damn fast, drop price damn slow..
December 15th, 2009 at 10:12 am
if i go Caltex, and use their $3 voucher,
then I pay by Citibank Dividend,
will I have 5% rebate?
$50 petrol - $3 voucher = $47
$47 X 0.12% (Site + Safra) = $5.64
Charge to Citibank Dividend = $41.36
5% rebate = $2.068
Actual Paid = $39.29
Is this correct?
For ESSO, if use Voucher, Dividend card do not have 5% cash rebate.
Does this applies to Caltex?
December 15th, 2009 at 10:32 am
How come until now still never update HSBC additional 2% discount?
December 15th, 2009 at 10:35 am
HUH!!!! HSBC 2% extra???
Wow… must recalculate my spreadsheet again.
December 15th, 2009 at 10:51 am
CCB…it’s f**king TUE, still no price change. what is this?seriously, we as consumers are taken for a ride!
December 15th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Oil price has dropped from between US$75 to US$77 to below US$70 for several days already, why hasn’t the petrol price dropped? We should support whichever company that initiates the drop first.
December 15th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
Drop must wait for price to stabilise. Usually 2weeks.
Increase NO need wait for price to stabilise. A few days after increase petrol price will follow.
LOL
December 15th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
those bloody bloodsuckers!!!
December 15th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
oh dear, not very good news folks, crude oil went up to US$75 a barrel. going by what crude oil says, i dun think those bloody suckers will call it stable!

December 15th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
i mean some investors mus be behind this! hatching up the prices or it could be the oil companies themselves. i remember it was still like below US$70 barrel when i left office at 4 plus!!!!
to all those making big bucks at the expense of poorer pple when they are loaded enough, hope you’d burn in h*LL!!!
December 15th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
sorry pple, i mus have make a mistake in my unhappiness. looks like oil is still below US$70 a barrel. jus got my desktop back aft HD replacement. LOWEr the price, you ASShoL#s
December 16th, 2009 at 9:43 am
Actually pump $10 every time may not worth it because of the discount vouchers. Even if pump price decrease by 5cents you save less than 3% (95 petrol). You use voucher ($3 off $50) you save 6%. If you pump twice $10 before they drop the price you will lose out.
That’s y they are starting the voucher tingy.
December 16th, 2009 at 10:10 am
hi dork, irrc, using voucher will not earn any cash-back rebate.
So, in the end, it works out almost the same.
4.5% vs 6%. Our friend is betting on the pump price to drop….
if pump price dropped and he managed to use his voucher, then he will strike….
December 16th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Regardless whether there is a price increase or decrease, i will pumped only $50 when my fuel indicator starts to blink……Cheers…..
December 16th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Yo heard from news last night that the new ruling 20 litres does not affect sg cars, only thai border kena.
How true is that??
December 16th, 2009 at 11:18 am
i think aplies to all cars, but they deploy officers to make sure car pum max of 20 litre……
What if i pump 20 litres at station A, and after that drive to station B to pump another 20 litres. How do they check if i had pumped elsewhere? get the officer to escort the car to customs?
December 16th, 2009 at 11:21 am
It came out in the straits times today also.
They said cannot pump more than 20L and malaysian customs will not check sg cars.
Anyway, with 3/4 tank rule, my car also cannot take in 20L.
And, there is nothing to stop you from going from one station (usually side by side at JB) to make another top up,
December 16th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
hi casper,
actually voucher can be used with lots credit card discounts losing the privileges
Eg
at caltex, it can be used with hsbc, ocbc and safra + citibank
at esso, it can be used with dbs esso and citibank esso
If you pump $10, price drops before the your next pump, you win. If you pump $10, price did not drop and you pump another $10, you lose. How long can $10 last? The price adjustment are quite unpredictable
December 16th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
yeah checked the papers today, true on what you said, what can stop us from pumping station to station?
Since their main target are the thai’s because their only purpose is topping up to extra tanks as well.
Might as well give us a break, since we do spend our money there and not just petrol. haiz….
December 16th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
LOL…we are damned smart.
December 16th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
couldnt wait anymore for e drop…so drop by clementi ave 2 to pump at caltex since they have e $5 discount for $50 pump
Total damage 101.85 for 98, discount $10 n plus using safra another 12% discount. Total bill was $80.83!!! Wow $20 discount sia!
December 16th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
prices have crossed the US$70 mark already. wtf wtf wtf…..all our hopes of possible price drops are gone !!!!
December 16th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
Don’t give up, buddy! Given that crude oil price is down more than 10% from US$79 10 days ago, even if goes above US$70, we should still see retail pump prices coming down. But as the oil distributors here operate more like a cartel, I wouldn’t be too hopeful about seeing your 95 Octane going down to S$1.60 a liter!
December 17th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Hey Dude, thanks for the encouragement! Even when price of crude is still trading north to over US$72 a barrel. Those who buy commodities like oil mus be laughing!

This would be a perfect time to raise prices due to the Boleh ruling. Those who want to avoid increasing coffee $ would be a good kid to pump locally.
December 17th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Hey, guys. i just got my new toyota Wish 2009 in Oct. now done abt 1800kms. Have been pumping shell 95. just switched to caltex 98. my FC dropped from 9.5 to 8…… does anyone know wats the possible problem? Thanks
December 17th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
KNN… crude price drop all kei siao dun wanna reduce price.. fucking hell!
December 17th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
I fear these oil company buggers are waiting to do a measly 5 cent price drop just before X’mas to make it look like they are giving long suffering Singaporeans a X’mas present! If they want to give us a present they should drop the oil price by 15 cents at least! Anyway, for those living in the East Coast, the Frankel Caltex station has $3 vouchers if you pump a minimum $50. Not as good as Clementi but then you can’t arbitrage the gap if you live in the East! If you pump $60 you get a lucky draw and may win a Scrabble set (!?). Not sure if they give the vouchers at the station though - got mine in the mailbox. So please check by calling them.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Today I saw shell 95 is only $1.679. As for the rest of the comeptitors still $1.767. Anyone here know the reason why shell could give such a great price.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
wallance, that’s because their board price is after their 5% site discount. their before discount prices are the same as all their competitors..
December 18th, 2009 at 8:50 am
hmm… my last tank pump caltex 95. $50
then this week pump esso 95. $50
still have half tank of esso.
dunno why, but looking at the fuel meter.
somehow got this feeling caltex gives me mileage.
Hmm… this is strange…
last week is my first caltex tank after 7 years of driving.
all along is esso, rarely Shell (if got super discount).
maybe should relook in Caltex…
December 18th, 2009 at 9:12 am
Nick, try esso 5000 or 8000 if u like
my toyota gets better fc with esso
caltex’s pick up is superb but 1 tank full last me way too few days compared to esso
December 18th, 2009 at 11:30 am
esso..thanks…
will try
December 18th, 2009 at 11:56 am
I jus drove past SEE HUM bradell and it’s still $1.767 for 95!!! I think they PURPOSELY, INTENTIONALLY hold HIGH PRICES cos it’s the festive season, pple got bonus can pay, those without bonus too bad LL. SEE HUM have given a lot of bonus. Anyone working in SEE HUM or OIL companies want to verify? Or they already warn you not to disclose your big fat 6 month bonus?
I give up aft topping up 20 20 20 , waiting for price to drop.. Need to move ard so TIME IS PRECIOUS.
All those hold prices, may you get your DUE retribution!!!!

Esso pump $50 discount $3
December 18th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
green buddy,
like what I said earlier. not worth topping up 20 20 20. Only top up 50 when your car is running on fumes so as to enjoy the 6% on the voucher. Even a 5 cent reduction is petrol price is less than the discount you enjoy. You really will not know when they will cut prices.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Hi All toyota owners, kindly leave your feedback on which petrol type(shell. esso or caltex) give u the best FC/mileage??
Thanks
