eversince our neighbour country Najib imposed that stupid 20L limit on spore cars, the petrol companies here bor chap liao, crude price up or down, they know we have no substitute..still guai guai pump, at most ask for some vouchers, only our gomen can do smtg for us now, either they lift the 3/4 tank when gg out of sing or they step in and ensure no price fixing…dear PAP gomen, can u hear us? halooo…r u there?? election coming hor..

February 7th, 2010 at 3:51 am
Why do msia petrol station wants singapore car to pay first and pump? How do they determine how much is needed to pump? anyone here knows?
February 7th, 2010 at 7:21 am
y pump $50 when u have no vouchers? We are all expecting a price drop. This should be the strategy before they drop the price.
Pump $10 if you have no vouchers
Pump the min amount stated on the vouchers if you have them

You have to est yourself or you can pay more 1st and get back the remainer after pump. They scare ppl run away.
February 7th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
price drop? only a miserable 5c at the most considering crude dropped almost 12 bucks
look at US pump price, see how closely it os correlated with the crude price, we should push for somthing like that instead fo hoping for them to give us discounts or vouchers
we are continually being fleeced and f*##@!

latest news- crude oil price are continue droping, now at USD69.45 (ice brent) and USD71.87 (Nymes lt sweet) ….
February 8th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
I dont wish if i should be happy if the petrol price dipped!
I am working an Oil and gas company. If oil price dropped, it spells my company is not going to do well.
It is really a dilemma…….

It is really a dilemma…….
As you are just employee of the company, do you think the profit or dividends distribute to you? The most you will get only 0.00000000000001 % of the profit for your bonus. So the price increase or decrease dun even bother you unless you trade oil commodities…
February 8th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
us$ up against s$ lah ….
also, the petrol we are using now at the pumps may have be secured sometime in 2009, not yesterday. so, if crude prices fall, it does not reflect immediately.
if crude falls, us$ fall, then we will see a dip in pump prices.
anyway, crude prices is not the price used as benchmark against pump prices.
February 8th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
although it is 0.xx1%, dont forget that ass hoe made a profit of 6 billion. er… how many zeros is that? Your bonus could still be substantial. If petrol price go down by 5% (8 cents) and u spend $200/month, u only save $120/ year. This amount is negligible compared to the bonus u are drawing (6 months?)
So all employees of oil company sure support the high fuel price. Actually most of us can afford that extra $120/year. We just buay song paying more for your high bonus.
February 8th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
i buay song they song ….
February 9th, 2010 at 10:06 am
Buay Song also must pay if you want to pump….. one word ….. we got no choice….
February 9th, 2010 at 10:29 am
it’s the 40% petrol tax imposed by Pay And Pay that does the most damage to us consumers. anybody wonder “why 40%? why not lower or higher? what’s the method of determining 40%? and last until when? cannot be forever right?
anyone running for the upcoming elections?
Propose to cut the tax to 20% in your campaign speech, challenge the Transport Minister in his GRC and you stand a good chance of garnering 51%.
This will save us about $0.30 every litre, or $12 every 40L tank.
Any takers?
February 9th, 2010 at 10:42 am
wat to do…. pump and pump loh …
err… since when garmen impose 40% petrol tax? where you get this figure and information from? dun anyhow quote leh.
it is a fixed value tax, not % based tax.
February 9th, 2010 at 10:45 am
haha.. instead of waiting for a price drop, why not we change our mentality ?
We should anticipate a price increase soon, so now we must save more and drive less… when the price increase, at least got money to pump
February 9th, 2010 at 10:54 am
rationale against irrational …
anyway, the holidays are coming.
don’t think so much, grumble less, be happy, enjoy the moment with family and frens …
happy new year to all!

Excise duties and GST:
Taxes and duties make up about 30 percent of pump prices. The petrol excise duty in Singapore is set at a rate of $0.41 per litre for 92- and 95-octane petrol, and $0.44 per litre for petrol rated 97 octane and above. As with all other products, there is the additional seven per cent GST charge
From what I gather, there is very limited information on how these petrol duties or taxes are determined. They keep it hidden.
February 9th, 2010 at 11:07 am
plus, with GST, it is tax upon tax, roughly translates to 40% of the price we pay.
For all who didn’t know about the 40% petrol tax, now you know!
For every $70 you pump, about $30 goes to taxes and $40 to the Big 4 revenues.
February 9th, 2010 at 11:25 am
yah lah. i know it is the excise duties and gst. what i am saying is it is fixed value, not %.
at 44 cents, assuming pump price is S$1, it is S$1.44 to us. if it is S$2, it is S$2.44 to us, less whatever gst and all tht. so, where you get your 40%
my fren, dun anyhow quote for the sake of quoting lah. u mad at pump prices going up also not like that mah.
last but not least, who ever said info cannot be found? and since when it is ever hidden? go to the library and you can find tons of parliamentary speeches documented there, including the debate on pump prices. if i can find, dun tell me u can’t
February 9th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
even crude go down to $50, the price will remain the same cos garmen need to maintain good bonus for ministers and civil servants, just accept it..
February 9th, 2010 at 3:38 pm
that one not possble lah.
our garmen smart wan.
just one statement will do:
‘in view of our extended lifespan, the revised cpf wthdrawl age will be raised to age 99′

There were many postings since then that stated that esso privillege card is the only card from sissy bank that allows u to have the 10% site discount + voucher discount. It is either u are new to this site or just bought your car or just plain dumb.

Hi,
How come when I use cititbank dividend card at esso, the cashier said no discount voucher given when using citibank dividend card?
These are some of the older posts of people encountering your problem. There are definitely a few more similar post but I am just too lazy to pull them out. it is a irritating that while we are trying to share info here to get the best deals, there are still people falling for the old problem and complaining. You can see other petrolwatchers helping to inform others when there is a price drop at SPC even before admin update their page. This is such that other benefit from it.
Like i said, it is forgivable if u are new, and we welcome you to share info on this site. Otherwise, it would mean that u are very blur.
February 11th, 2010 at 8:23 am
Hi $3 my foot! ,
You can also apply for the DBS Esso mastercard, not as attrractive as the dividend give, but i prefer to see the discount on the bill directly instead of thru rebates.
DBS Esso MC have a 12% discount with the ability touse the $3 vouchers.
February 11th, 2010 at 9:01 am
Agree with HOLE,
Also take note the dividend are issued every 50 dollars equivalent to $1111 worth of petrol (at 4.5%).
This must be clocked within one year. that is if within one year you do not spend $1111 on petrol in a year, (for OPC or people who visit Malaysia often), you will miss your $50 rebate.
February 11th, 2010 at 9:23 am
Today drove pass Esso and there are signs of pump price change
Wonder is a upward or downward adjustment ?
anyone knows?
