Oil price at $79.19. Another round of increase soon???
June 26th, 2010 at 8:38 pm
Esso customers… as usual, need to top up at end of the month, coz esso promotions like need 1 week into new month then start one…
June 26th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
ho - in order to maximise discount, one needs to fill up in multiples of $40. so at month end, if you can’t fill multiples of $40, then it defeats the objective.
I used to be a esso diehard, but last 2 months already switch to SPC.
while i’m not 100% sure, but based on my last 2 months of using SPC, it seems to me that SPC fuel seems to also give better mileage.
June 27th, 2010 at 10:23 am
Super Mamak, but SPC doesn’t give as good discount as Esso now, so i don’t know the extra mileage that you gain is it worth the switch?
Just 2 cents worth.
June 28th, 2010 at 12:03 am
Yah… SPC gives better discount the past 2 months… coz its 15% with the POSB everyday card… put simply, top up $40, pay $32 at SPC, plus get 3% cash rebate on the $32 charged to Everyday card.
U get better mileage w SPC? My experience was SPC fuel not as lasting… Maybe I should try again…
June 29th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Shell 98 most lasting for me. Maybe its diff make and model use diff brand. find your best one and stick to it. try to keep the driving conditions equal so that you can judge better.

The average consumption of SPC is good on the meter, but the balance in the tank lost of 50km worth for 40 liter with no reason. Esso has no such problem
June 29th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
Sorry i dont understand what you mean.

good to see that crude oil price decreased to $76.67 instead of going up to $80
June 29th, 2010 at 6:00 pm
After pumping, the total avail milage shows 530km. But after couple of days, if I add actual milage with the available balance I see 50km less (about 480km). But the aveage consumption from the meter is not changed, for my Altis still 11.4.
I am not sure if it is normal? I don’t have such issue with ESSO or Caltex. Can anybody help explain?
June 29th, 2010 at 10:10 pm
This is because the mileage is calculated based on your previous driving conditions. If previously you drove all highways, of course it’ll show further distance.
June 29th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
I think all fuels are the same … so even mileage should be same based on driving conditions and driving style and not on fuel pumped… if one fuel was better than other then the car manufacturers itself would ask you to pump a specific brand … and everyone would pump the good brand only as price is the same and the other brands would die out… so consumers please remove the coloured plastic sheet the oil companies are placing over your eyes and pump whatever gives you maximum discount. because end of the day petrol is petrol irrespective of the brand ..the chemical composition must be same……. only difference being the Ron.,,,,,

Oil has gained 2.7% so far this month (june), following losses of 14% in May and gains of 2.8% in April.
but what about our fuel price? raise In apr, dropped 6 cents in May, then up another 3 cents in June.

MJ,
Porsche is to Mobil as Ferrari is to Shell. Manufacturers do try and swing you to a particular brand.
There is brand, there is composition specification, and then there is finally price.
General population knows the price, they know the brand, but most would know nothing about the composition. Yet, these monkeys(like yourself leading the blind and then following other blinds) would still like to think all petrol/fuel is the same, without knowing the composition.
Coke or Tiger beer taste different elsewhere. That can be inferred that a brand means little to arriving at composition. The price also doesn’t tell you composition, it tells you the price against only what is rated 95/98 RON dictated by law.
95/98 RON doesn’t tell you composition. Compositions dictates ratings on SPECIFICATION, like RON in this case is merely and only ONE of the MANY specification. Still, what prevents engine knocks is not RON, but instead MON specification. Heard of it? If not, then open your brain first before your eyes, before your month.

If Porsche is to Mobil as Ferrari is to Shell, then what is to SPC? QQ?
July 1st, 2010 at 11:50 pm
slow mo
im not scientist
but what i understand water specific composition H20
buy which ever brand bottle non sparkling water is the same H20 … no additional C02 in it… maybe few minerals and impurities in negligible quantity..(except New water…hehhehe)
Thats what I meant Petrol Chemical formula must be same .. i dont think you can change that unless u selling kerosene or bio fuel. ethanol blend…. maybe some additives in negligble quantities.. but basic petrol must be same
i dunno the formula
Maybe that is because im monkey…
Thank you intelligent soul for teaching me new things every day.

Petrol consists of a combination of hydrocarbons, C5H12 to C12H26 and is a mixture, it has no exact formula. However, the largest component of almost all commercial petrols is isooctane, which has the formula C8H18, and its isomers, which have the same formula.
Because of the “octane rating” used in motor fuel rating, many users think gasoline contains all octane C8H18, but it actually consists of a variety of volatile hydrocarbons from butane to benzene to toluene, and others.
All gasolines and diesels are formulated to meet performance criteria, not composition criteria - like wine tasting and blending, the same results can be reached with a number of different components.
