Any news from SPC on petrol discounts using POSB Everyday Credit Card?
What will happen next from DBS Esso Platinum card on petrol discounts? Citibank Dividend discount more attractive than DBS Esso… guess no news and i will cut half my DBS Esso card.
DBS are you listening? More and more credit cards out-performed your very own DBS Esso credit card!

Looks like shell is winning the promotions race. Not only does it’s vouchers provide the best value in terms of discount, it has also extended the V-power promo for all weekends from 27 Aug-26 Sep. Too bad the vouchers can’t be used for V-power promo.
From Shell website:
Pump Shell V-Power at the price of Shell FuelSave 98 every Fri-Sun, 7pm-11pm, from 27 August to 26 September to cheer for Ferrari!
Friday, 27 August to Sunday, 29 August, 7pm to 11pm daily
Friday, 3 September to Sunday, 5 September, 7pm to 11pm daily
Friday, 10 September to Sunday, 12 September, 7pm to 11pm daily
Friday, 17 September to Sunday, 19 September, 7pm to 11pm daily
Friday, 24 September to Sunday, 26 September, 7pm to 11pm daily
Plus, get 20% bonus Shell Escape points whenever you pump Shell V-Power throughout the year.

shell voucher where har? i went to a few, all say dun have….
August 31st, 2010 at 2:10 pm
The shell vouchers were given out by a few shell stations that were closing down. If i remember correctly, these were stations in AMK, Lavender and the most recent being Bedok North. Information were posted by forumers, which was how i knew about and got my vouchers from Shell Bedok North in early Aug.
August 31st, 2010 at 3:14 pm
@red fto, thanks.

August 31st, 2010 at 3:34 pm

which amk or Lavendar station. Cfm they are still issuing? pls update us
August 31st, 2010 at 5:14 pm
@shellisbest, amk gave out earlier in the year iirc. Not sure if it was the station near the church (Ave
or the one near AMK Hub (Ave 6). Anyway now confirm don’t have liao. Same for Lavender (close down in Jun) and Bedok North (close down on 5 Aug). The lucky ones are those who check this forum regularly.
Fellow bros/sis will post information of good deals once we get to know about it.
August 31st, 2010 at 5:26 pm
Sorry my (Ave 8 ) became (Ave 8). Hahaha..
@shellisbest and pls drop price, to be clear, the vouchers are no longer available over the counter. They were always given out prior to a station closing down for renovation. You can try your luck to request for assistance from those who might have spare vouchers that they may not need. I would love to help, but i’ve already given away my spare vouchers.
Hope there is no ambiguity now..

September 1st, 2010 at 11:55 am
@shellisbest, if you do not have vouchers of any sort, then probably Caltex (with SAFRA+Citi Dvd Card, AAS+Citi Dvd, or HSBC Platinum 6% Discount + 4% rebate), or Esso with Mobil Privilege+Citi Dvd offers you the best deal now. Just need to note that Caltex’s 98-octane cost more than Esso’s, in case u are pumping 98-octane.

How about the Everyday Card 6% rebate on Wed, is it still on?
September 1st, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Appears that there is no more 6% double rebate(3%+3%) on Wednesdays.
For everyday card, discounts works the same everyday
10%(station) + 5%(POSB/DBS cards) + 3%(everyday card rebate) = 18%
Previously on wed’s for everyday card, additional 3% makes for 21% discount.

September 1st, 2010 at 8:34 pm

September 1st, 2010 at 8:41 pm
@red fto
i only have uob and cimb cc lah…. :/
lppl gotta use shell lor….
September 1st, 2010 at 9:06 pm
Strongly recommend that u get the citi dividend, everyday and hsbc plat so that u can get the best deal anytime. most of these card have 1 year free. u can get the girl to waive off annual fees after that.
without the double smart$, using the citi dividend gives better rate than the uob plat card when pumping shell.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:09 pm
For the SPC&U programme, the website mention that you will get up to 8% depending on your spendings for the month.
If let’s say I spend in total of $301 in Sept, will I get 5%(site) + 7%(SPC&U) + 5%(DBS) + 3%(everyday) ?
September 2nd, 2010 at 12:56 am
I can’t get my annual fee waived for my DBS ESSO card. I ask the customer service why cannot waived and he say confidental. I never own bank money but also seldom use DBS Esso card.
This is the second time DBS do not waived my annual fee for credit card. The 1st is the Takashimaya Amex card.
LL… Tell the customer service to cancel both main and sup card.
Other banks (eg UOB, Citibank, Standard Chartered, BOC, RBS, HSBC etc.) always wavived my credit card annual fee. Does anyone have problem wavive annual fee for DBS credit card?
September 2nd, 2010 at 7:08 am
why do u want to use dbs esso? Only 13%. Use citidividend for Esso. 14.5%. you can ask dbs to go fly kite.
September 2nd, 2010 at 9:01 am
@ dork
dun wan to hv too many cards lah…. have cut down from 6 or 8 to just 2… plus my uob acc are all linked….
but thanks for the recommendation… greatly appreciated.
September 2nd, 2010 at 1:24 pm
@Desmond, no lah, SPC where got so good?
The higher percentage discount “earned” thru ur previous month’s spending is used to replaced the site discount. ie. you spent >$50 to $300 in Aug, then Sep u get 6% instead of 5% site discount. You spent >$300 to $500, get 7% instead of 5%.
Anyway, since now the promo is straight 10% for SPC&U, then the program discounts earned thru Aug’s spending becomes irrelevant in the month of Sep.
The actual discount calculation will be as posted by forumer slow mo above:
10%(station) + 5%(POSB/DBS cards) + 3%(everyday card rebate), which works out to be around 17.55% effective discount. This will give the shell $3 voucher discount+uob platinum a very close fight.
September 2nd, 2010 at 1:47 pm
@red fto
Thanks for the explaination!
Was alittle confused, now I understand
There’s another better deal though, 15% (shell voucher) for Simpang and Changi + 5%/7% rebate from UOB cards.
September 2nd, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Shell still gives eascape points on top of the discount but SPC does not.

hey red Fto:
why 10%(station) + 5%(POSB/DBS cards) + 3%(everyday card rebate), which works out to be around 17.55% effective discount.
not 18%…where the missing 0.45% gone to?
September 2nd, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Aiyo mah, SPC Weds promo no more, Ah Neh switch to coconut oil now…suak!
September 2nd, 2010 at 8:15 pm

(1-0.1-0.05)*(1-0.03)=0.8245 = 82.45%
so it is 17.55% discount

September 3rd, 2010 at 8:07 am
@Desmond, agreed. The shell 15% voucher at simpang and kembangan is the best now. With platinum card, effective discount is 19.25% (excluding points)! But only applicable at the 2 stations in the east, so a bit out of the way for quite a lot of bro/sis here. The SPC and Shell $3 voucher deal is applicable island-wide, so i just compare apple to apple lor.
Vid & kennethoka, spot on bros.
September 3rd, 2010 at 8:41 am
@Eric, it is only becos of the shell points that the $3 voucher ended up as a better deal (18.63%) compared to SPC (17.55%). If ignore the shell points, then effective discount at shell for every $40 is only 16.88%, which means SPC deal is better. That’s why its a close fight. Forumers should decide for themselves if the shell points are worth it, cos’ minimum to redeem fuel is 600pts for $20. At 1 pt per litre of fuel, it might take a while to reach 600pts.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:05 am
Top up @ spc yesterday. No more DBS/POSB 5% discount. Only 10% SPC card. Think Everyday card rebate also dropped to 2% now.

September 3rd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
@dongdong, that shouldn’t be. SPC’s own website still list the DBS/POSB 5% discount and everyday card 3% rebate. What happen when u pumped yesterday? Some miscommunication between you and the cashier?
September 3rd, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Yest juz pump at spc..10%+5%+3% for everyday card still applies..
