Petrol Ban In M’Sia Starts on June 9!

Thats the end of buying cheap fuel across the border. It is confirmed that Malaysia will restrict petrol sales from its southern Johor state, a short distance from Singapore, from June 9 onwards. On a positive note, Malaysia have said that a fuel subsidy scheme will be announced in August 2008. Till then foreign registered vehicles will not be able to fill up their tanks within 50km of the border.

Well I guess they were gonna pull the plug on this loophole some day. Rumours are that come Friday, 30 May 2008, Malaysia will ban the sale of fuel to foreign-registered vehicles within 50km of their borders. More details available here.
